Final webinar of the BRIDGE project

On July 8, the final webinar on the implementation of the project of the Center for the Study of Global Health in Central Asia at Columbia University (CGHZCA) “Improving the access of people who inject drugs (PWID) to HIV prevention, diagnosis and treatment services” (BRIDZH) was held.

Opening the webinar, the director of KSCDIZ Asylkhan Abishev noted:- The five-year experience of the project has shown its effectiveness, developments in the pilot regions have made it possible to strengthen various components of preventive programs for PWID. Now the task is to develop further steps to implement successful project practices on access of PWID to prevention services in the country as a whole.The project worked in three regions of the country, covering 24 trust points.Meruert Darisheva (CGCCA) spoke about the results of the BRIDGE project.Timothy Hunt (Columbia University School of Social Work) gave a presentation on the implementation of the project strategy. Alfiya Denebayeva, Deputy Chief Physician of the AIDS Center in Almaty, spoke about the experience of implementing the program in trust points of the city. Sholpan Primbetova (HRCC) provided information on the role of nurses and outreach workers in HIV care. Participants shared their views on the sustainability of the model as a whole.
